The British Australian Community has successfully hosted many events that have showcased the contribution of British Isles culture to modern Australia.
Many of these, such as our annual series Britfests in Frankston, the bayside suburb of Melbourne with the highest percentage of residents of British stock in the entire State of Victoria, have been solidly promoted, receiving statewide and national publicity.
Live entertainment representing Australia’s heritage in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, both traditional and modern, has been featured. This includes music, food, drink, costume, modern science and technology, and our hallowed British folkways.
We always make every effort to ensure that our events are family-friendly. Young couples with babies are as welcome as older people bringing along their grandchildren for a great family excursion.
BritFest 2000 featured all-day free entertainment on stage including Morris Dancing, folk dancing, folk singing, pipe band, City of Frankston Brass Band, address by the Lord Mayor, plus over 40 stalls, a range of other entertainments, military displays, historical re-enactments, Punch & Judy and other children’s entertainments, plus 12 British beers on sale in the clubrooms.
Concerts and other Cultural Events
The British Australian Community has held several concerts and other cultural events in our clubrooms at ESU House. If you would like to suggest a future concert, please contact us. We are always happy to promote British-oriented products, services, hobbies or activities that promote interest in British Isles culture, and our unique Australian development of many of the best aspects of that culture.
Activities involving other organisations
We are always willing to co-operate with other organisations in hosting activities that highlight our superb cultural heritage.
